Tron: Catalyst, the sequel to Tron: Identity and the latest title from Bithell Games, is slated for release on June 17, 2025. Although the game is technically a standalone experience, it builds upon the narrative of Identity and explores the Tron universe from a fresh isometric perspective.

In conjunction with the release date announcement, Bithell Games and publisher Big Fan unveiled a new trailer at the ID@Xbox Showcase, providing a glimpse into the game’s combat and narrative mechanics. Players assume the role of Exo, a program from the “Arq Grid” with the ability known as “The Glitch,” which enables them to exploit time loops, replaying levels with newfound knowledge to discover hidden secrets and shortcuts. Exo will face challenges from the Grid’s leaders, necessitating combat against enemies on foot or via a Light Cycle. As reported by Engadget in an early preview of the game, players will also have the option to upgrade their combat abilities to suit their preferred playstyle.

Given that Tron: Identity is a visual novel, Catalyst marks a departure from its predecessor in terms of gameplay, which is part of what makes it so intriguing. While some narrative choice elements are still present, as evident from the trailer, they are now intertwined with action-adventure elements.

Tron: Catalyst is scheduled to launch on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC on June 17, 2025.
