Google has discreetly disclosed the pricing details of Veo 2, its cutting-edge video-generating AI model, which was introduced in December.

As per the company’s pricing page, utilizing Veo 2 will incur a cost of 50 cents per second of video, translating to $30 per minute or $1,800 per hour. Google DeepMind researcher Jon Barron draws a comparison between this pricing and the production budget of the blockbuster Marvel movie “Avengers: Endgame,” which was reportedly $356 million — approximately $32,000 per second.

It’s worth noting that customers will likely not utilize every second of Veo-generated video for which they are charged, and Veo 2 is unlikely to produce lengthy, three-hour “Avengers”-style epics in the near future (Google’s announcement emphasized Veo 2’s capability to generate clips that are two minutes or longer).

For the sake of comparison, OpenAI has made its Sora video generation model available to subscribers who pay $200 per month for a ChatGPT Pro subscription.
