Sifu Movie Adaptation Updates

In December 2022, we learned that a production company had signed on to turn Sloclap’s excellent martial arts game Sifu into a film. Today, it has been announced that Netflix is involved with the project, which has resulted in some changes in the personnel behind the scenes.

Initially, Story Kitchen, which has since acquired a large catalog of video game adaptations, secured a treatment of Sifu with John Wick creator Derek Kolstad attached as the writer. Although Story Kitchen is still working on the film, Kolstad is no longer serving as the screenwriter, and T.S. Nowlin has been brought on board for that role instead. Nowlin’s previous credits include the screenplays for the Maze Runner adaptations and, more recently, he was a writer for Netflix’s The Adam Project, starring Ryan Reynolds.

However, the John Wick connection to Sifu remains intact. Chad Stahelski, the director of all four John Wick films and a stunt performer, has joined the production team as a producer, along with members of his 87Eleven Entertainment company.
