Just a week ago, Tim Cook from Apple generated buzz about a new product launch set for February 19, which is happening tomorrow. His tweet included an animated Apple logo that glimmered, leading many to speculate it could be the unveiling of a second-generation AirTag. Given that the original AirTag was released nearly four years ago and there have been rumors of a second-gen tracker coming this year, it’s plausible that the company is planning significant tech upgrades for the device.
Speculation suggests that the next AirTag could feature enhanced security measures, such as a tamper-proof speaker to combat stalking, and an improved Ultra-Wideband chip offering up to three times the tracking range. However, it’s hard to imagine the CEO of Apple creating such hype over a mere accessory. Following numerous leaks and rumors, the likelihood of a next-gen iPhone SE being announced seems more probable.
This potential new entry-level iPhone is expected to have a design similar to the iPhone 14, including a notch but no Dynamic Island or home button. It will likely transition to USB-C and have sufficient power to support various Apple Intelligence features. Historically, while SE models have had simpler screens and hardware, they’ve been equipped with chips comparable to those in the latest iPhones.
There’s also a chance it could be something entirely different: Apple’s rumored smart display, which is also slated for release this year. Despite these possibilities, there isn’t really another Apple device as anticipated as an AirTag.
