Sony Remasters Days Gone for PS5 and PC

Sony has announced that it is remastering the game Days Gone for PlayStation 5 and PC. The announcement was made during the company’s latest State of Play event. The remastered version, titled Days Gone Remastered, will be released on April 25, 2025, and will feature updated graphics and new content.

New Features and Improvements

Days Gone Remastered will include improved graphical fidelity, increased foliage draw distance, and improved shadow and lighting quality. The game will also support the PS5’s 3D audio and haptics-stuffed DualSense controller. Additionally, the game will feature a new permadeath mode, a "Horde Assault" mode, accessibility features, and a speedrun mode, which will be added at a later date.

A Surprising Choice for Remastering

While Sony has remastered other PlayStation games, such as Horizon Zero Dawn and The Last of Us, some may find it surprising that Days Gone was chosen for remastering. The game received mixed reviews at launch, with many critics praising its impressive zombie hordes but finding the story to be lacking. However, Sony has shown a commitment to the game, having brought it to PC and reportedly working on a film adaptation.

A Potential Renaissance for Days Gone

The release of Days Gone Remastered may be the start of a new era for the game. With its updated graphics and new content, the game may attract new players and provide a fresh experience for those who have already played it. Perhaps this remaster is just the beginning of a larger effort to revitalize the Days Gone franchise, which could include further games, adaptations, or other projects. Fans of the game will have to wait and see what the future holds, but for now, they can look forward to experiencing Days Gone in a new and improved way.
