Samsung’s One UI 7 skin has experienced a delayed rollout, which began when the company opted to release a fourth beta build for Galaxy S24 series owners. Despite the company’s goal of providing the best possible experience for Galaxy users, this delay may have a negative impact on its upcoming One UI x.1 update.

Following the release of the third One UI 7 beta on January 6th, the company has now released another beta build after a month-long gap. This move is likely to cause significant disruptions in the future One UI 7.1 version, which is expected to be released alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7.

Samsung One UI 7.1 May Not Exist

Samsung may consider skipping the One UI 7.1 update and instead release a new One UI 7.0.1 update for its upcoming foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7. (via-sammobile)

Typically, Samsung follows a pattern with its software skin updates, where One UI x.0 is reserved for Galaxy smartphones, while One UI x.1 is reserved for Galaxy foldables and tablets. However, given the current situation, Samsung may break its long-standing tradition and skip the One UI x.1 update for the upcoming 7th Gen foldables.

Another factor to consider is the timeline. Samsung needs to expedite the rollout of One UI 7 to align with Google’s Android 16 timeline, which is currently in its beta testing phase and is expected to reach platform stability by Q2, 2025. Meanwhile, Samsung Galaxy devices are still waiting to receive the stable Android 15 (One UI 7) update.
