PlayStation Network Outage Causes Widespread Disruption

A global outage on the PlayStation Network (PSN) had been experienced by thousands of subscribers as of the knowledge cutoff, according to the official Xbox online support account or Twitter. This is based off a topic reported on The Verge which states, ‘The PlayStation Network experienced a global outage that lasted for nearly a day, Sony says it will compensate PlayStation Plus subscribers by giving them an extra five days of service.

The outage appears to have started on Friday evening and continued until Saturday evening in the United States, with many PlayStation owners reporting that their digital games were unable to be loaded or their online connections were unavailable. Downdetector shows that the number of outage reports peaked at around midday on Saturday on the East Coast before falling throughout the afternoon and evening.

Service Restored and Compensation Offered

The Ask PlayStation account on X posted at around 7pm that “PSN has been restored,” followed five hours later with a message that “network services have fully recovered from an operational issue.”

“We apologize for the inconvenience and thank the community for their patience,” the account said. “All PlayStation Plus members will automatically receive an additional 5 days of service.”
