Samsung Achieves Significant Milestone in Exynos 2600 Chipset Development
The South Korean tech giant has made a notable breakthrough in the development of its next-generation Exynos 2600 chipset, following a setback in delays for the Exynos 2500 production for Galaxy Z Flip 7 devices. This development is a positive sign for Samsung’s upcoming flagship devices, including the Galaxy S26, which is rumored to feature the 2nm Exynos 2600 SoC.
Samsung Reaches 30% Yield Efficiency in Exynos 2600 Production
Samsung has invested heavily in the chips segment, aiming to compete with other leading manufacturers like TSMC. However, the high prices and low yield rates have resulted in significant losses for the company. As a result, Samsung has dropped plans to introduce its flagship devices, such as the Galaxy S23, S24, and S25 series, and has partnered with Qualcomm to power its devices.
Despite these challenges, Samsung has reportedly achieved a 30% yield rate in the 2nm Exynos 2600 production, according to a recent report by TheBell. This significant improvement makes it more likely that the company will introduce the Exynos 2600 in its upcoming Galaxy S26 devices.
The 2nm process has been optimized to deliver a 12% increase in performance, while also reducing power consumption by 25% and chip area by 5% compared to the previous generation 3nm process. These results demonstrate substantial improvements over previous orders and suggest that Samsung’s foundry division will see growth in its customer base.
For Samsung’s own products, achieving a 30% yield rate is a positive development. If the company delivers Galaxy S26 units with in-house Exynos chipsets, it will gain more control over pricing, potentially leading to a price drop in its next-generation flagship devices.
