Samsung has recently introduced its new flagship device as the Galaxy S25 series, and with the latest high-end devices, the company has also started bringing new satellite connective services. However, the service is currently exclusive to the US regions. Let’s explore more about how it works.

In the US, the Galaxy S25 series has satellite service through different carriers. Verizon is also one of them, which has recently partnered with Skylo to make the service possible.

According to Skylo, the official Galaxy S25 will automatically search for the satellite connection when it loses cellular signal. The intel system will automatically connect with the sky’s ground stations to connect multiple satellites. Let’s take it in more detail.

Galaxy S25 Satellite SOS: Working in Detail

It is worth noticing that the satellite-based emergency SOS feature on the Galaxy S25 provides two main functions: connecting to emergency services, sharing location with Garmin emergency response, and sending/receiving messages via Garmin response.

Here Garmin response is a service that works as a bridge between connecting satellites for emergency incidents or services.

When the SOS activates, the device will prompt the user to stand in an open area with clear visibility to ensure a stable signal. The user will need to describe their emergency situation, and then, after waiting seconds, the device will send the message to the rescue center, and it will take some time to receive the message.

Additionally, Skylo has also revealed its future plans to bring satellite-based SMS and calling capabilities for the future smartphones that make them independent of any cellular carriers. In the same way, T-Mobile is also working with Starlink and testing calling and texting features
