According to a recent report, Samsung is considering phasing out its signature S-Pen stylus, starting with the upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra.

The company has traditionally included a built-in S Pen stylus with the Ultra variant of its Galaxy S series phones, allowing users to write, draw, and navigate with greater precision and control than using their fingers.

Earlier this year, Samsung released the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which came with a built-in S Pen stylus but lacked Bluetooth functionality, a move that disappointed many fans. The removal of this feature sparked widespread discussion on social media platforms like Reddit and X, with some speculating that the company might reinstate Bluetooth-enabled S Pens with the Galaxy S26 Ultra next year.

However, a new report suggests that Samsung may be planning to completely eliminate the built-in S Pen from its Galaxy Ultra devices. The report reveals that the company intends to remove the internal housing for the S Pen, starting with the Galaxy S27 Ultra, in favor of a slimmer design. Instead, the S Pen will be supported by the smartphone but will not be stored internally, similar to the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

A recent post on Weibo revealed this development, citing the pursuit of a more streamlined design as the primary motivation. Additionally, the report suggests that Samsung may also discontinue some S Pen features on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 to achieve a thinner design. Although there has been no official confirmation from Samsung, it remains to be seen whether these changes will come to fruition.
