After being reintroduced in The Mandalorian and hinted at having a significant role, Boba Fett received a lukewarm reception with his own show, The Book of Boba Fett. Despite this, Disney has not announced a second season, leaving the character’s future uncertain. In fact, as recently as last year, star Temuera Morrison expressed uncertainty about his character’s prospects. However, it’s possible that the tide may be turning in Boba Fett’s favor once again.

While promoting his latest film, Ka Whawhai Tonu (In the Fire of War), Morrison spoke with Collider about the status of The Book of Boba Fett. He jokingly asked, “Where’s my season 2?” and suggested that he could potentially appear in the second season of Ahsoka as an older version of Captain Rex. More intriguingly, Morrison revealed that he had a reunion with Mandalorian co-creators Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau at Star Wars Celebration, where they shared a group hug and he thanked them for giving him the opportunity to reprise his role as Boba Fett.

Morrison hinted that Filoni and Favreau were tight-lipped about their plans, saying they “didn’t want to say too much, but they just left it at that.” The actor likened his current situation to being a preserved peach, waiting to be brought back out and enjoyed at a later time. He believes that he and Boba Fett are being kept on the shelf, preserved for a future project, and that their return will be all the more sweet when it happens.

There are several potential avenues for Morrison’s return, including an animated anthology series or the upcoming Maul: Shadow Lord series. Even if he doesn’t appear in Ahsoka‘s next season or The Mandalorian & Grogu, it’s likely that we’ll see the actor or Boba Fett again sooner rather than later.
