Although Elon Musk may have relinquished his role as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency and as an adviser to President Trump, he remains active in Washington D.C. circles. Currently, he is engaged in lobbying lawmakers on legislation related to autonomous vehicles, as reported by Bloomberg, citing unnamed sources, where he may have stepped away from his previous duties.

According to Bloomberg, Musk and his associates have been directly contacting members of Congress. Their efforts seem to be focused on the Autonomous Vehicle Acceleration Act, a bill introduced on May 15.

Musk has heavily invested Tesla’s future in AI, robotics, and autonomous vehicles, frequently linking the company’s value to its investment and potential commercialization of autonomous vehicles. Next month, Tesla is expected to launch a small, geofenced robotaxi service in Austin, Texas. Additionally, Tesla aims to eventually roll out autonomous vehicles, branded as Cybercabs, without steering wheels or pedals. However, currently, there is a lack of clear federal rules and standards to allow such vehicles to operate on a large scale.
