Enhancing Accessibility on Android Devices
Today, we’re introducing a series of updates to further improve the accessibility of Android devices, particularly for users with hearing impairments and visual disabilities.
Improved Hearing Aid and Screenreader Experiences
Starting with the Samsung Galaxy S25, we’re introducing the next generation of Bluetooth technology, LE Audio, to GN Hearing and Oticon Intent hearing aids. This new technology enables users to enjoy enhanced hearing aid management features, including:
- Hands-free calling
- Ability to change presets via native settings
- Lower latency Bluetooth connections
This integration will also be available on the Pixel 9 with Android 16 beta and will be rolled out to the Galaxy S24 with Android 15 in the coming weeks.
Enhanced Accessibility for Blind and Visually Impaired Users
We’re also rolling out new updates to TalkBack, Android’s screenreader, to make devices even more accessible for people who are blind or have low-vision. Starting with Samsung Galaxy S25 devices, users who rely on braille will be able to connect to Bluetooth devices via HID (Human Interface Device), a feature that will be gradually rolled out to any phone or tablet using Android 15 over the coming months.
Additionally, TalkBack will provide more detailed image descriptions on Galaxy S25 devices, powered by Gemini models, in the coming weeks.
