Microsoft to Discontinue Skype

Microsoft is set to shut down Skype on Monday, May 5, in less than a week’s time. As the platform has become less popular in favor of Zoom, Teams, and Google Meet, users may be shifting to alternative platforms like WhatsApp. According to reports from WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is developing a feature to enable voice and video calling directly from its web browser.

WhatsApp’s Upcoming Feature

WhatsApp already supports voice and video calls on its Mac and Windows apps. However, this new update will allow users to make calls without the need to download an application. This feature is particularly beneficial for those who prefer not to download WhatsApp on their work computers. Although the feature is still under development, a preview is available for viewing.
