Although the Switch 2 supports backwards compatibility, Nintendo has announced plans to release enhanced versions of its classic games, featuring improved framerates, resolution, and additional content. These upgrades will be available at a lower cost than purchasing the full game, and can be applied to titles that users already own. Specifically, the upgrades for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are priced at $10. Recently, the company has begun revealing the prices of upgrades for other classic games, and it appears that the upgrades for Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree will be twice as expensive, at $20.

NintendoLife initially reported on the potential prices of these upgrades based on European eShop listings. Since then, Nintendo has updated its US eShop to reflect that the upgrades will also be available for $20 in the US. The Kirby and the Forgotten Land upgrade includes access to a new game area called Star-Crossed World, where players must unravel the mystery surrounding a meteor that struck the world. In contrast, the Super Mario Party Jamboree upgrade comes with Jamboree TV, a game show hosted by Toad, which utilizes the Switch 2’s Joy-Con 2 and microphone, and allows players to insert their face into the action during mini-games using the console’s camera.

The Switch 2 version of Super Mario Party Jamboree is set to release on July 24, while the Switch 2 edition of Kirby and the Forgotten Land will be available on August 28. Both games will cost $80 if purchased as a full Switch 2 version, rather than upgrading an existing copy. Nintendo has not yet announced the prices for the Switch 2 editions of Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, which are scheduled for release later this year.
