During the interview, io9 asked: What led the design team to start embracing the Expanded Universe side of Star Wars?

Jing Houle: We’re being more expansive and creative, as seen with characters like Turgle and Dash. The team is bringing forward innovative ideas, and fans are responding positively. We’re exploring different paths, including new shows, nostalgic characters, and gaming, to cater to various fan interests.

io9 also asked: What inspired the design for the Dash figure, considering the multiple interpretations in Shadows of the Empire?

Chris Reiff: We drew inspiration from various sources to create the definitive Dash figure. Our designers and sculptors, Eric and Tom, worked together to blend different references and create a unique portrait. The result is a figure that’s not based on any one specific version, but rather a culmination of all the Dashes.

When asked about exploring other EU areas, Reiff replied: We’re interested in exploring all aspects of the Expanded Universe, and it’s a matter of finding the right time and theme to support them.

Regarding The Acolyte, io9 asked: Will Hasbro continue to explore this series, despite the unfortunate news of no second season?

Houle: Never say never. We’re willing to revisit ideas, and with the 20th anniversary of Revenge of the Sith approaching, we might explore prequels more heavily. Fans have been asking for Qimir, and he’s definitely on our minds.

io9 also discussed the impact of U.S. tariffs on the toy industry: How is the current political situation affecting Hasbro’s decision-making process?

Reiff: We’re committed to our current pipeline and upcoming releases. While the situation is uncertain, we’ll adapt to changes as they come. We’re on the same rollercoaster as our fans and collectors.

Finally, io9 asked: What inspired the inclusion of Turgle in the Jedi pack?

Houle: We received a request for a larger pack, and the team suggested Turgle and Skoova Stev. It was a fun project, and we’re glad to see the positive reception. The pack showcases the playfulness of Star Wars and the diversity of characters, from Turgle to Skoova Stev.

Reiff added: Star Wars is a galaxy of characters, from Death Troopers to Turgles and Skoova Stevs. It’s a wide spectrum, and we’re excited to explore it.
