Samsung is poised to enhance the capabilities of its dedicated voice assistant, Bixby, through the integration of Bespoke AI Vision.
The Korean technology giant is working towards establishing a smart appliance ecosystem centered around its Bespoke AI portfolio, which seeks to expand the relevance of AI beyond smartphones. This ecosystem will feature innovative appliances such as refrigerators that double as Wi-Fi hubs and air conditioners that can coordinate with fans.
There are three key components of the Bespoke AI portfolio, which are as follows –
- The Bixby AI assistant, which utilizes large language models (LLMs)
- The SmartThings app, which serves as a central platform for monitoring and managing devices
- The Tizen operating system, which incorporates the Knox Matrix and Knox Vault security layer
Moonkeun Lee, Vice President and Head of AI Solution Lab at Samsung, stated (Via), “Controlling devices not only through voice commands, but also through natural reactions, such as telling the Bespoke AI WindFree AC that you feel hot, and it will automatically adjust. This type of device control is being implemented through Bixby.” Currently, the Bespoke A Windfree Combo Gallery AC available in Korea supports this natural reaction feature, but it is expected that Samsung will soon expand local support.
The company is tailoring its AI strategy to cater to the price-sensitive Indian market by introducing a “Tizen Lite” operating system for its affordable, screenless appliances. This will enable these devices to support AI features like Bixby.
Samsung plans to introduce five exclusive features for the Indian market, including Home Care Plus, which allows users to easily report appliance errors to service centers directly via the SmartThings app. Additionally, the company is developing a Hindi version of Bixby, with a ‘Hinglish’ version already released, which combines English and Hindi words to mimic conversational sentence structures.
