Recently, Samsung introduced its budget-friendly smartphone, the Galaxy A26, which comes with a commitment of six Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates. However, there is a caveat – these updates cannot be installed without interruption.

The newly released Galaxy A26 does not support seamless updates, also known as A/B updates. This means that the smartphone is unable to install firmware updates in the background without disrupting the user experience.

It was last year that Samsung launched the Galaxy A55 5G, the first smartphone from the company to support seamless updates. This feature was later extended to the Galaxy S25 series. There were expectations that Samsung would continue to include seamless update support in all its latest smartphones, but it appears that is not the case.

A report from Galaxy Club has revealed that the recently launched Galaxy A36 and Galaxy A56 do support seamless updates. On the other hand, the Galaxy A26, which was released alongside these devices, uses the traditional update method.

Recently, the Galaxy A26 received its first software update, which included the April 2025 security patch. Although the update did not bring any significant changes, it confirmed that the smartphone does not support seamless updates, as the patch was not installed in the background.

Samsung has made the Galaxy A26, Galaxy A36, and Galaxy A56 smartphones available globally.
