Patreon, a prominent online platform for creators, has forged partnerships with major podcasting entities, Sony Music Entertainment and Amazon’s Wondery, as announced on Wednesday.
According to Patreon, these partnerships aim to establish the platform as a central hub for fan engagement and exclusive content from prominent podcast networks, marking a significant expansion of its podcast offerings.
The partnerships will enable Patreon to feature some of the biggest names in the podcasting industry, distinguishing it from other platforms that support podcasts. For Sony and Wondery, this collaboration will facilitate the expansion of their audience reach.
As part of these partnerships, select podcasts from Sony Music and Wondery will be made available on Patreon, including notable shows such as “Getting Better with Jonathan Van Ness,” “Lipstick on the Rim,” and “This Is History” from Sony Music, as well as “Scamfluencers,” “Killer Psyche,” and “Kurt Krömer – Feelings” from Wondery.
Patreon reported that podcasters on its platform generated over $472 million from more than 6.7 million paid memberships last year, with podcasting emerging as the highest-earning category of creativity on the platform.
In a blog post, Patreon stated, “Whether it’s independent shows or networks, podcasters are choosing Patreon as it provides a space to share their work directly with audiences, connect with new fans, deepen existing relationships, manage their businesses, and increase their earnings – all in one place.”
Patreon has expressed plans to form additional podcasting partnerships in the future.
