Samsung is set to expand its Galaxy Ring series with the introduction of the next-generation wearable smart ring, known as Galaxy Ring 2, which is expected to feature charging capabilities via a Samsung smartphone case.

In July 2024, Samsung unveiled its inaugural smart ring, Galaxy Ring, at the Galaxy Unpacked event. Initially available in limited regions, the company later expanded its reach to more markets, with ongoing expansion efforts.

A recent report from our trusted source, 91mobiles, suggests that Samsung may introduce a new method for wirelessly charging future Galaxy Rings, including the Galaxy Ring 2. The report is based on a newly discovered patent application, which reveals details about the charging mechanism.

According to the patent details on WIPO, Samsung filed the application with the number WO/2025/063477 in July of last year, which was recently approved. The images in the patent suggest that the Galaxy Ring 2 can be placed on the rear panel of a compatible Samsung smartphone for charging purposes.

The Galaxy Ring 2 is expected to feature various sensors that will enable it to detect proper placement on the smartphone and send notifications if it is not positioned correctly. The device will utilize a wireless charging circuit to power the battery via a transmitter, and the charging status, battery level, and other details will be displayed on the phone during the charging process.

However, it is essential to note that these details are based on the patent application, and it remains to be seen whether these features will be implemented in the final product.
