According to a report by Reuters, TikTok is planning to launch its e-commerce platform, TikTok Shop, in France, Germany, and Italy on Monday. The platform has been available in the United Kingdom since 2021 and is now expanding its reach in Europe.
Although TikTok Shop is also accessible in the United States, where it experienced strong sales during the holiday season, the app’s future in the country remains uncertain. Additionally, it has been available in the US since its launch.
Reuters notes that TikTok has been working to increase the number of European-based sellers on TikTok Shop, as many sellers currently sell products directly from China.
Jan Wilk, head of operations at TikTok Shop UK, stated, “We are already collaborating with merchants in France, Germany, and Italy to list their products on the platform, and TikTok Shop will be available to our users in these countries starting next Monday.”
Wilk explained that TikTok aims to diversify its product offerings and prices on TikTok Shop, which is known for its discounted prices. He cited the example of a UK-based luxury goods store on the platform that sells second-hand Birkin bags, highlighting the platform’s potential for a wide range of products.
