The launch of the Pixel 9a seems imminent, as evidenced by a series of leaks about the upcoming budget phone, including early reviews from at least two YouTubers. Both a consistent stream of rumors and The Mobile Central and Sahil Karoul have gotten their hands on Google’s new device, releasing reviews that confirm many of the specifications and features that have been rumored since the Pixel 8a’s release.

Among the most noticeable changes are the visual updates. The Pixel 9a does not feature Google’s signature camera bump, instead opting for cameras that are nearly flush with the phone’s plastic back. The aluminum frame and front of the 9a bear a resemblance to the Pixel 9, although the 9a has a lower-resolution 6.3-inch 1080p display and slightly larger bezels.

The primary reason for choosing a Pixel over other budget Android phones is the access to Google’s custom camera and AI features, powered by the company’s in-house Tensor chips. Both review videos confirm that the Pixel 9a is equipped with the Tensor G4, featuring a 48-megapixel wide and 13-megapixel ultrawide for photos and video. Although the photography performance appears to be on par with the Pixel 9, the video quality seems to suffer in low-light conditions. The phone is expected to be available in multiple finishes, including a light purple “Iris,” black “Obsidian,” hot pink “Peony,” and white “Porcelain.” While only the purple and white models are shown in the review videos, this suggests that the other colors will also be available.

Google initially released the Pixel 8a just a week before its I/O developers conference in 2023. Therefore, a March announcement for the Pixel 9a would be slightly earlier than usual. However, this aligns with the rumored March 19 launch date Android Headlines reported.
