Untitled M. Night Shyamalan/Nicholas Sparks Project

According to Deadline, Phoebe Dynevor is in talks to star alongside Jake Gyllenhaal in M. Night Shyamalan’s upcoming supernatural romance project, which is being developed in collaboration with Nicholas Sparks.

Avengers: Doomsday

In a recent interview with Omelete, Joe Russo referred to Avengers: Doomsday and Infinity War as “a new beginning” for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

The most significant thing that has happened is that we got to immerse ourselves in a 20-movie arc and see its conclusion. What’s exciting about these two new Avengers movies is that they represent a fresh start. We’ve told a story with an ending, and now we’re going to tell a story with a beginning. And then, who knows where we’ll go from there? Maybe it’ll take another five years, but I think we just needed that time and perspective to figure out where it needed to go next, and the only thing that brought us back was the right story.

In another interview with The Times, Anthony Russo confirmed that Iron Man’s death in Endgame sets the stage for Robert Downey Jr.’s return as Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday.

We can’t explain that, as it’s part of the story. But there’s no one else in the world who could play this character the way he’s about to.

Untitled Predator Project/Predator: Badlands

Amber Midthunder told Collider that she is unsure if her character Naru will return to the Predator franchise after Prey.

I don’t know. I genuinely don’t know what’s happening. I would be happy to do another one, though. I love Dan Trachtenberg, and I love the world and character. I’ve heard some cool ideas that I think are really fun. I’m excited to see Badlands, which is coming out this year. Whatever Dan does, I’ll always be a fan.

The Variable Man

Deadline reports that a TV series based on Philip K. Dick’s The Variable Man is in development from the creators of Humans, Jonathan Brackley and Sam Vincent. The project is described as a “grounded sci-fi” story that explores a cold war where sides use advanced technology to calculate their chances of winning.

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy

Jonathan Frakes stated at the Indiana Comic Convention that Starfleet Academy is targeted towards “hardcore Star Trek fans” and features the largest set of any Star Trek series to date.

[Robert] Picardo is in it, and Tig Notaro is in it. I love Tig. The show has the most massive set of any Star Trek series ever. There’s also a spaceship on the show, which I hope isn’t a secret. I’ve had bad experiences with oversharing in the past, but it’s fabulous. The sets are great, and the scripts are funny, which is always helpful on Star Trek. The show is aimed at hardcore Star Trek fans.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Sarah Michelle Gellar told People that the new Buffy series is progressing faster than she initially anticipated.

We’ve set up our offices, which means things are moving faster than I expected. However, it’s going to be a process, and everyone needs to be patient. To do it right, we need time and perspective. I’m thrilled to be working with an incredible group, including Gail Berman, the Zuckermans, and Chloé Zhao. It’s surreal to have Chloé asking for my advice and opinion, especially since she hasn’t done television before.

I’m still in awe when I walk into these meetings and see these talented people. Chloé will call me and say, “I have to defer to you,” and I’m like, “Wait, what?” Those aren’t words I ever thought I’d hear.
