Users of Samsung Galaxy smartphones now have the option to set ChatGPT as their default assistant, replacing Gemini AI if they prefer.

Recently, Samsung introduced Gemini AI as the default assistant on Galaxy S25 smartphones running One UI 7, although users can opt for Bixby instead. Meanwhile, Google has announced an upgrade that enables users to replace Gemini with ChatGPT on Galaxy smartphones.

This upgrade allows users to quickly access ChatGPT’s voice mode by long-pressing the power button or swiping up from the corner of the screen. According to a report from Android Authority, the latest ChatGPT beta enables users to set it as the default assistant on Android devices.

This new feature is compatible with all Android devices, which means Galaxy users can also take advantage of it. It allows users to trigger ChatGPT using the same buttons and gestures they use to trigger Gemini. By long-pressing the power button, users can easily launch ChatGPT, which will open in voice mode. Although some may find this mode limited in functionality compared to other AI assistants like Perplexity AI on Android, it is still a convenient option.

However, Samsung has not yet released an official statement regarding this upgrade, so it remains to be seen how this new change will function on Galaxy devices.
