It’s become all too familiar to see beloved children’s characters being exploited for the sake of entertainment, thanks to the public domain. The overused tactic is back, with one production company putting its own spin on the “dark domain” concept, where they get to manipulate and distort iconic Disney or cartoon IPs (Popeye<\/em><\/a> being a recent example) for the sole purpose of being the first to do so, prioritizing shock value over genuine creativity and substance.<\/p>\n

Naturally, this has led to the creation of Winnie the Pooh<\/em> versus Steamboat Willie<\/em> (which is different from the one featuring Terrifier<\/em>‘s David Howard Thorton). How original – let’s jump on the bandwagon and attempt to recreate the excitement of horror titans who built up their franchises with legendary lore, \u00e0 la Freddy vs. Jason<\/em> and Alien vs. Predator<\/em>. Instead, we get this uninspired monstrosity that’s been scraped from the bottom of the barrel, reminiscent of previous abominations like Blood and Honey<\/em><\/a>, which apparently inspired The Dark Domain: MVW: Mickey vs Winnie<\/em>, despite not being from the same universe.<\/p>\n
