The acquisition highlights the growing demand for alternative cloud solutions, as <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2024\/05\/05\/coreweaves-1-1b-raise-shows-the-market-for-alternative-clouds-is-booming\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">CoreWeave<\/a> continues to expand its presence in the market, following its <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/08\/09\/weights-biases-who-counts-openai-as-a-customer-lands-50m\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">recent notable investments<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As reported by <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theinformation.com\/articles\/coreweave-in-talks-to-buy-ai-startup-weights-biases-for-around-1-7-billion\" target=\"_blank\">The Information<\/a>, the acquisition is believed to have cost CoreWeave approximately $1.7 billion. Weights &amp; Biases, which was valued at $1.25 billion in 2023, had been preparing for an initial public offering (IPO) before the acquisition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Founded in 2017 by Lukas Biewald, Chris Van Pelt, and Shawn Lewis, Weights &amp; Biases has established itself as a leading provider of tools for AI application development.
