These plans include upcoming features, updates to the mobile experience, and a significant change to its monetization policy, all of which were announced on Thursday.

Notably, Clancy announced that Twitch will be making subscriptions and “Bits” available to “most” creators, regardless of their follower count. Bits are virtual items that viewers can purchase to support their favorite streamers.

This change aims to make the monetization process on Twitch more accessible, allowing a wider range of creators to earn money as they engage with their audiences. Previously, only Twitch affiliates and partners were eligible for subscriptions and Bits, and they had to meet specific requirements, including having at least 50 followers, maintaining an average of three concurrent viewers per stream, and streaming for at least eight hours per week.

Clancy also mentioned that the company is introducing a new option that will allow all streamers to use their earnings to make purchases within Twitch, although he did not provide further details.

In addition to the changes in monetization policy, Clancy outlined other initiatives that Twitch has planned for 2025. One of these initiatives involves creating new opportunities for streamers to generate revenue through collaborations.

The platform is introducing a new feature called “Shared Hype Trains,” which will allow streamers participating in Stream Together or Shared Chat to come together and support each other. Streamers will also be able to start and manage Shared Chat sessions directly from the mobile app.

Another way Twitch plans to increase revenue opportunities for streamers is by making it easier for creators to express interest in collaborating with brands. The company is also introducing a new feature that enables viewers to react to specific moments in a stream using Bits.

Furthermore, Twitch is working on allowing users to create custom Power-ups, which are effects that can be used during streams, such as adding a colorful border around a message or sending a larger version of an emote.

The company is also introducing updates to Clips, aiming to make the editing process smoother and to provide a new feature for highlighting moments in real-time.
