It has been two months since the release of Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim<\/a><\/em> in theaters, and now it is making its way to Max on Friday, February 28.<\/p>\n

According to Deadline<\/a>, the anime film will be available on Warner Bros.’ streaming service prior to its broadcast debut on Saturday, March 1. When it was initially released, Rohirrim<\/em> was overshadowed by other, more prominent movies, resulting in a worldwide box office gross of $20 million. Just two weeks after its theatrical release, it became available on various digital platforms, and it has recently been released on Blu-Ray and DVD, albeit without much fanfare. Therefore, if you have been interested in seeing it but were hesitant to spend money, this presents an opportunity to do so.<\/p>\n

The film, directed by Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex’s<\/em> Kenji Kamiyama, is set nearly 200 years<\/a> before the events of the Lord of the Rings<\/em> film trilogy. It stars Gaia Wise as H\u00e9ra, the daughter of Rohan’s then-king, Helm Hammerhand (Brian Cox). After Helm accidentally kills the lord of the neighboring Dunlendings, a war breaks out between the two kingdoms, pitting H\u00e9ra against her would-be betrothed, Wulf (Luke Pasqualiano). The reviews for the film, including our own<\/a>, were mixed, with many appreciating the scale but being underwhelmed by the animation and story, which is based on the appendices<\/a> of J.R.R. Tolkien’s works. Although it may not have been a massive success, it is possible that it could turn out to be a hidden gem upon viewing.<\/p>\n

If Rohirrim<\/em> is not to your liking, there are other Rings<\/em> media to look forward to: Rings of Power<\/a><\/em> is returning for a third season on Prime Video, and WB still has the Gollum spinoff movie<\/a> in the works.<\/p>\n
