This dislike button is specifically designed for comments and does not affect the actual post content. The testing is currently being conducted on both Reels and Feed posts.<\/p>\n<p>The platform will not display a dislike count, although Instagram&#8217;s head, Adam Mosseri, has stated that dislikes will eventually influence comment ranking. This feature is similar to the downvote button found on Reddit.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This provides users with a private way to indicate their disapproval of a particular comment,&#8221; Mosseri explained on Threads. &#8220;Our goal is to create a more welcoming comment section on Instagram through this feature.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A Meta <a data-i13n=\"cpos:2;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2025\/02\/14\/instagram-tests-a-dislike-button-for-comments\/\" data-ylk=\"slk:spokesperson told TechCrunch;cpos:2;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">representative told <em>TechCrunch<\/em><\/a> that the primary purpose of the dislike button is to enhance the quality of comments, echoing Mosseri&#8217;s statement. This is currently a test, and the button is only available to a small group of users.
