According to a post on the PlayStation Store \u2014 perhaps about as official as you can get without a splashy announcement elsewhere \u2014 <a data-i13n=\"cpos:1;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/bsky.app\/profile\/wario64.bsky.social\/post\/3lhj7bsvmjc2n\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:an apparent leak;cpos:1;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \"><\/a> is set to arrive on August 28. It&#8217;s scheduled to hit PC and Xbox Series X\/S as well as PS5.<\/p>\n<p>Sony had scrubbed the release date from the game&#8217;s store page (which now only bears a release window of 2025) by the time of publication. <a data-i13n=\"cpos:3;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/vulcan.dl.playstation.net\/img\/rnd\/202502\/0611\/2c429928f5c5b20df3c78f5053ace69c011d4f391782ab47.mp4\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:A trailer;cpos:3;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \"><\/a> for the remake of Hideo Kojima\u2019s <a data-i13n=\"cpos:4;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/2004-11-18-metal-gear-solid-3-snake-eater.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:Metal Gear Solid 3;cpos:4;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><em><\/em><\/a> was hosted on Sony\u2019s servers and also leaked. That featured the August 28 date too.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not the first time that a game or its release date have come to light in exactly this way. We first received official word of <a data-i13n=\"cpos:5;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/the-last-of-us-part-1-ps5-review-150041410.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:The Last of Us Part 1;cpos:5;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><em><\/em><\/a>, a remake of the first game in the series for PS5 and PC, <a data-i13n=\"cpos:6;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/the-last-of-us-part-1-ps5-pc-remaster-release-date-162801589.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:in similar fashion;cpos:6;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a> a few years ago. The same thing happened with the <a data-i13n=\"cpos:7;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/the-last-of-us-part-ii-remastered-is-coming-to-ps5-next-year-001232736.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:remaster of the sequel;cpos:7;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s possible that Sony was preparing things behind the scenes ahead of a coordinated release date announcement for <em>MGS Delta: Snake Eater.<\/em> Given that a State of Play showcase is rumored to be taking place next week, it seems likely that the reveal was scheduled to take place then.
