However, this does not necessarily imply that the company will launch commercial operations in any of these cities or test them in autonomous mode. Waymo informed The Verge that it will dispatch fewer than 10 autonomous vehicles (AVs) to each city, where they will be manually driven by human operators.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The news precedes <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/storyline\/tesla-earnings-live-updates-elon-new-evs-ai-and-more\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Tesla\u2019s 2024 fourth-quarter earnings call<\/a>, where investors will be awaiting updates on the automaker\u2019s robotaxi and self-driving initiatives.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Waymo is currently operating a commercial robotaxi service in three cities \u2014 Phoenix, San Francisco, and Los Angeles \u2014 with plans to launch in <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2024\/09\/13\/waymo-robotaxis-will-be-on-the-uber-app-in-austin-atlanta-in-early-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Austin, Atlanta<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2024\/12\/05\/waymo-outsources-fleet-operations-to-african-fintech-moove-in-phoenix-and-miami\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Miami<\/a> this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Alphabet-owned company has not confirmed whether it will launch a robotaxi service in any of the cities it tests in this year.
