The number of people seeing ads on Threads is set to increase globally. In January, Meta introduced a small-scale ad test to a limited group of users in the US and Japan, featuring a select few brands. Prior to this test, which began over a year after Threads’ launch, the platform had been completely ad-free, although Meta had planned to integrate ads months before the test commenced. Now, Meta is expanding the rollout of ads on Threads to over 30 countries worldwide.

This expansion means that a larger proportion of Threads’ 300 million users will be exposed to advertisements. It will be interesting to observe whether this rollout affects the service’s consistent growth. Meta has not disclosed the list of 30 countries included in the rollout or the frequency at which ads will appear in users’ feeds. Similar to the initial test phase, ads will be displayed between organic content or posts from individuals and friends that users follow.

Meta is making ads on Threads available to all eligible advertisers worldwide, which means users can expect to see placements from a variety of companies, including local ones. The company is adopting a phased rollout approach, indicating that advertisements may become more frequent on the service over time. As the rollout progresses, the impact of these ads on user experience and the platform’s growth will be noteworthy.

Expansion of Ads on Threads The number of people seeing ads on Threads is set to increase globally.
