Amazon has reportedly joined the list of companies vying to acquire TikTok as the deadline for a new ban approaches. According to The New York Times, the retailer has made a last-minute bid to purchase the app and has reached out to Vice President JD Vance and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick regarding the offer.

The reasons behind Amazon’s late bid are unclear. Currently, TikTok is facing an April 5 deadline to secure a deal, although President Donald Trump has indicated a willingness to extend this deadline if necessary. White House officials, however, do not appear to be seriously considering Amazon’s bid, according to The Times. Amazon has declined to comment on the matter.

Amazon is not alone in its pursuit of TikTok. Several other companies and investors have proposed bids, including YouTuber MrBeast, who is backed by a group that includes Roblox CEO David Baszucki, and Reddit cofounder Alexis Ohanian, who has joined a group of investors known as “Project Liberty.” Additionally, Perplexity AI has proposed integrating the short-form video into its search engine and plans to rebuild TikTok’s algorithm and add community notes features.

With the deadline just days away, uncertainty still surrounds the future of TikTok. President Trump has expressed a desire to announce a deal before the Saturday deadline, but the exact timing of a decision remains unclear. As the situation continues to unfold, the tech industry and TikTok’s user base await news on the app’s future.

Amazon Enters the Fray to Acquire TikTok Introduction to the Bid Amazon has reportedly joined the list of companies vying to acquire TikTok as the deadline for a new ban…

[47
278,64,63,390
post-13017","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-news","tag-amazon","tag-gear","tag-news","tag-tiktok
https://fusionmindlabs.com/blogs/wp-content/uploads/sites/9/2025/04/f7d7cdf0-0fe8-11f0-997f-780947c7a295.jpeg
["GET
Background and Motivations
