Mushroom enthusiasts have reason to celebrate as Adult Swim has ordered a second season of its hit animated series, Common Side Effects, just before the finale of the first season airs this weekend.

Common Side Effects is a unique blend of genres, combining elements of thriller and comedy. With executive producers Mike Judge (Silicon Valley, King of the Hill) and Greg Daniels (The Office, Parks and Recreation) on board, the show offers a mix of humor and suspense, making it more accurately described as a comedic thriller than a traditional comedy.

The series follows two former high school lab partners who discover a mystical mushroom with the power to cure a wide range of diseases. This discovery sets them on the run from the DEA, large pharmaceutical companies, and other shadowy entities. The show’s animation style is distinctive and may appeal to a specific audience. While it takes a few episodes to fully engage with the series, it grows more compelling as it progresses.

The voice cast includes notable talents such as Mike Judge and Martha Kelly, known for her roles in Carol & the End of the World, Baskets, and the second season of Euphoria. The cast also features Joseph Lee Anderson, Dave King, and Emily Pendergast. Adult Swim President Michael Ouweleen praised Common Side Effects as a "boundary-pushing and genre-defining piece of television" and thanked fans for their support on social media.

Common Side Effects was created by Steve Hely, known for his work on American Dad and 30 Rock, and Joe Bennett, creator of the underrated series Scavenger’s Reign. The creators aim to use the show to "transform planet Earth and restore the human spirit," but are satisfied with the achievement of securing a second season. With its unique blend of genres and engaging storyline, Common Side Effects is set to continue entertaining and intriguing its audience in its upcoming season.

Introduction to Common Side Effects Mushroom enthusiasts have reason to celebrate as Adult Swim has ordered a second season of its hit animated series, Common Side Effects, just before the…

[47
1334,1991,116,3851,318,63
post-12325","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-news","tag-adult-swim","tag-cartoon","tag-entertainment","tag-hbo-max","tag-max","tag-news
https://fusionmindlabs.com/blogs/wp-content/uploads/sites/9/2025/03/4c1bca50-0bf8-11f0-a7ff-b7109dbbb775.png
["GET
Show Overview
