Instead, the 1980 movie introduces Pamela, Jason’s mother, who seeks revenge against those she holds responsible for her son’s drowning death. The upcoming Peacock and A24 prequel series, Crystal Lake<\/em>, is expected to focus on Pamela, and it’s now been confirmed that Linda Cardellini (Dead to Me<\/em>, No Good Deed<\/em>, Freaks and Geeks<\/em>) will play the role.<\/p>\n

The news of Cardellini’s casting was widely reported today, although reporter Jeff Sneider<\/a> had previously mentioned that she was in talks for the part over a month ago. Interestingly, Kane has a background in music, having provided the singing voice for Aladdin<\/em> in the 1992 Disney film, among other credits. This connection makes the rumored premise of Pamela’s singing career seem like a fitting theme. The casting of Linda Cardellini, who appears capable of doing justice to the role of Pamela Voorhees, originally played by Betsy Palmer, is a promising development for the series.<\/p>\n
