Google is continually updating its messaging platform to improve the user experience, and now it is expected to introduce a new “Mention” feature, which will make group chats less cluttered.<\/p>\n

According to a report from our trusted source, Android Authority<\/a>, a recent APK teardown has revealed that a forthcoming ‘Mention’ feature is in the works, which could make group conversations more manageable on the platform.<\/p>\n

Apparently, while exploring the latest beta version of the Google Messages<\/a> application, it was discovered that the company is developing a new “Mentions” feature. This new option will enable users to tag specific individuals in group chats using the ‘@’ symbol, similar to WhatsApp and Telegram.<\/p>\n

Tagging a group member directly seems to be more efficient than simply mentioning their name, as it ensures the intended person receives a notification and minimizes the chance of missing messages.<\/p>\n

Previously, Samsung announced<\/a> that its upcoming smartphones would feature Google Messages as the default messaging app due to RCS support, replacing Samsung Messages; however, older devices still have the option to choose between them.<\/p>\n

However, contrary to this announcement, it was later reported<\/a> that Samsung Messages App supports RCS on the Galaxy S25 series with One UI 7. A few months ago, the Korean tech giant advised<\/a> Galaxy users to switch to Google Messages as Samsung Messages would end RCS support.<\/p>\n
