This decision comes after <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2021\/09\/28\/new-amazon-echo-devices-will-have-local-voice-processing-giving-users-more-privacy\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">initially introducing local voice processing<\/a> to provide users with more privacy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Amazon&#8217;s email to customers states, &#8220;As we continue to expand Alexa&#8217;s capabilities with generative AI features that rely on the processing power of Amazon&#8217;s secure cloud, we have decided to no longer support this feature.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This development coincides with the rollout of a new version of Amazon&#8217;s voice-controlled AI assistant, <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2025\/02\/26\/amazon-unveils-a-new-and-improved-alexa-alexa\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">now referred to as Alexa+<\/a>. The move has raised concerns about Alexa&#8217;s privacy implications, which have been a subject of concern for consumers and regulators in the past.
